Madeira webcams: 18 live streams from across the island

Updated 24. August 2026

Cameras fix it. Not because they are pretty, but because twenty seconds tells you where today’s drive is worth making.

What the cameras are actually good for

Three of them replace a forecast:

  • Rabaçal — the most useful on the island. It tells you whether the walk to the 25 Fontes ends in fog.
  • Seixal — how big the swell is running on the north coast. In heavy surf the natural pools are closed, and the drive over the mountain was wasted.
  • Madeira airport — whether anything is landing in the wind.

The rest is anticipation, homesickness, and the question of whether the jacarandas are out yet.

Every location

What happens when you click

The cameras are not ours. They are public YouTube live streams run by two Madeira portals, and every tile names the operator. Until you press play, nothing is sent to YouTube — the preview image sits on our own server. Only the click opens the connection.

When a camera stays black

Live streams die. An operator restarts, the address changes, and the player says “video unavailable”. We check all 18 automatically every day and swap dead addresses out. If you find one that isn’t running, a short email is enough.
