What you see
Fairways, cypresses, and behind them the drop to the bay. In clear weather the view runs across the whole city and out to sea.
The practical value comes from a Madeira quirk: on many days a layer of cloud sits between roughly 300 and 800 metres. Stand in Funchal underneath it and you see nothing but grey and assume the day is a write-off. This camera is inside that layer. If it shows sun and you are looking down onto a cloud deck, the lid is thin — and higher up, at Pico do Arieiro, you’d be standing above all of it.
